Sandhya Basini Sitoula is the Executive Director and Board Member at NAAMII, currently leading the AI & Society (Governance Lab). She has previous experience as the Asia Regional Migration Coordinator and Lead for Climate Change/Migration at Terre des hommes (Tdh) Foundation where she managed children and youth on the move programs across Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, providing strategic and programmatic guidance for migration-related projects.
Previously, Sitoula worked with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Office Nepal as National Project Coordinator, overseeing regional projects aimed at reducing vulnerability to unsafe migration, human trafficking, and forced labor, particularly among women and girls.
She holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame, USA, and an LL.B. and Master’s of Law in Human Rights and Gender Justice from Kathmandu School of Law. Her experience includes serving as a Legal Fellow at Open Society Initiatives West Africa, Program Coordinator at the Center for Legal Research and Resource Development in Nepal, and Legal Fellowship Program Coordinator at Women’s Fund Asia.
Sitoula was a Humphrey Fulbright fellow (2013–14) at the University of Minnesota Law School, focusing on Trafficking in Persons prevention and policy, demonstrating a career-long commitment to human rights, labor migration, and gender justice in South Asia and beyond.
