On June 26, 2026, NAAMII hosted its Open House, "From Fields to Intelligence: Agriculture and AI," bringing together students, professionals, researchers, and AI enthusiasts to explore how artificial intelligence can help address agricultural challenges, particularly in predicting crop yields in remote and data-scarce regions of Nepal.
The session highlighted how AI research can be translated into real-world impact while opening conversations on the opportunities and challenges of building AI solutions in Nepal. Participants explored NAAMII's research areas, how problem statements are identified for real-world impact, and what it takes to begin a journey in AI research whether from cybersecurity, mechanical engineering, government IT, agriculture, or other interdisciplinary backgrounds.
From questions about internships, research pathways, and technical skills to discussions on AI startups and the growing scope of AI in Nepal, it was encouraging to see so many people interested not just in learning AI, but in contributing to research that matters.
