Augmented Reality System for Overlaying Objects in a Room

This project developed an AR system for precise overlay of 3D objects onto 2D images, enhancing the Explorug app’s user experience through advanced object placement and interaction.
Traditional image augmentation techniques often lack the ability to seamlessly overlay 3D objects onto 2D images. Manual object placement can be time-consuming and imprecise, leading to a disjointed user experience. Additionally, achieving smooth object movement within the image presents further challenges for user interaction.
Our goal is to enhance the Explorug AR feature by integrating machine learning and projective geometry techniques to optimize image segmentation, line and vanishing point detection, and object positioning, enabling intuitive and smooth user interaction.
This project has developed advanced image augmentation capabilities in the Explorug app, successfully integrating machine learning and projective geometry techniques. The system optimizes image segmentation, line and vanishing point detection for precise object placement, and significantly improves user interaction, with ongoing research focused on further enhancing functionality and user experience.
